Andrea Manthorne graduated cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, Maine in 1995. While in law school, she served as a Legal Writing Instructor and as Chairperson of the Moot Court Board, during which she won second place in a national moot court competition. Upon graduation, she received the Gignoux Award for Appellate Advocacy and the Bureau of National Affairs Law Student Award. Ms. Manthorne received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with honors, from the University of New Hampshire in 1991.
Ms. Manthorne was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1995, at which time she joined the Appellate Division of the Public Defender’s Office, where she practiced before the Fifth District Court of Appeal for two years. She then transitioned to the trial division in Tampa. As an assistant public defender in the trial division, Ms. Manthorne successfully defended numerous misdemeanor and felony cases. Since August of 2000, Ms. Manthorne has been writing appeals, post-conviction motions, and federal habeas petitions, as well as preparing pre-trial motions and memoranda for various types of criminal cases, ranging from simple drug offenses to complex white collar crimes.
Ms. Manthorne is also admitted to practice in the State of Maine.
